My joy is in exploring a wide variety of musical styles. That’s why I love composing for film. On one day there’s a need for middle-eastern drumming; on another, a jazz a capella singing group; and on another an orchestral score. There are so many varied adventures of musical play. And when it comes to songwriting, I invite the muse to run the gamut of genres, themes and inspirations, while I revel in the joyride of creation
and craft.
For more about me, I invite you to view my bio. Otherwise, here’s my latest news . . .
January 2012
In Tiny World news, we're finally at the mixing stage of our first song for the project. We had the pleasure of recording drummer Pheeroan Aklaff and bassist Motoki Mihara back in December. Their voices add raucous rhythm and a lot of playfulness to the piece. Almost there!
I've just launched my brand new voice teaching website: Holistic Voice NYC. Check it out and pass it around.
Caryn O'Sullivan released Blessed Not Broken, her beautiful, heartfelt debut album, at the end of 2011. You can hear me singing backup vocals throughout.
October 2011
I'm excited to say that we finally began recording for Tiny World! Pianist D.D. Jackson played an awesome track that I'm looking forward to sharing with you soon.
September 2011
In September, I had a little cameo in Brian O'Neill's video for his song Rise. You can also hear my BVs on that beautiful piece. I also had the pleasure of singing on a demo of Tracy Sallow's upcoming musical. Otherwise, I'm still working steadily on Tiny World and continuing to teach voice lessons.
August 2011
I taught some children's classes in August for kids five and under and their caregivers. It was a lot of fun, and I hope to offer those again sometime soon. I also started teaching private voice lessons again, which I thoroughly enjoy.
May, June and July 2011
During late spring/early summer, I spent most of my time on Tiny World. Aside from that, I recorded some more BV's for Caryn O'Sullivan's album. I also had some fun writing and recording a song with my daughter's preschool class, which inspired me to offer some kids' music classes in August.
Back in April, I mentioned the end credit song for Caught. You can now take a listen to that on the bottom of my Music page!
March and April 2011
I had a great time recording the lead and backup vocals for the end credits/trailer song for a short film called Caught, directed by Elizabeth Page, screenplay by Lori Martini and Elizabeth Page, produced by ROAM Pictures. The song and score was written by Rolando Gori. I'll be sure to add it to the site as soon as the film is finalized.
I've been singing some BV's for Caryn O'Sullivan's upcoming album. I'm looking forward to that album coming out. She has some beautiful pop songs!
Most of my time has been going toward my children's album, which has grown into a larger project of children's music, literature and media focused on nurturing empathy and compassion. The project is called Tiny World. Check it out!
February 2011
These days, I'm busily working on my upcoming album of original children's songs with producer Randall Thomas. Most of the songs have been written - soon it will be time to get musicians together and record! This album is also being used as the beta tester for Randall's brand new website for collaborative media projects: Fader8.com.
I am thrilled to report that Marsh Fork Elementary School in the Coal River Valley of West Virginia will finally be moved to a new site in 2012. This had been a very important cause for my dear friend Ann Porter before she passed away at the end of 2006. Back in 2008, I wrote Ann's Song and requested donations toward that cause to continue her legacy. Read more about Marsh Fork Elementary here and about Ann here. I urge you to continue to support the noble projects of Coal River Mountain Watch in honor of Ann.
After two years, I've finally updated my website. The Music page, especially, has been revised - be sure to take a look at the newly added Film Score CV, which includes clips from films I've scored more recently, such as Rena De-Levie's Spinsterbabe and Kryssa Schemmerling's Our Hawaii.
January 2011
Check out Brian Hugh O'Neill's brand spanking new 2011 CD, Free World. I thoroughly enjoyed singing background vocals for several songs alongside Tracy Sallows last year. And producer Rolando Gori was a pleasure to work with, as always. I love Brian's music. It's a great album!
And, while you're at it, if you haven't yet gotten the chance, check out my album, Us Lonely People.
